CHURCH NURSERY ATTENDANT - Join the team of a progressive, LGBTQ+ affirming church committed to serving peace through justice in Bellingham and beyond. PURPOSE:
This newly created position is responsible for the care and well-being of infants and toddlers (0 – 4 years) in the Narthex play area, while parents attend worship service.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Nursery Attendant reports to the Director of Community Life and is accountable to the Church Council through the Personnel Committee. This position works closely with the Director of Community Life, the Lead Pastor and families of young children.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sets up the Narthex play area, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the children and families arriving, underscoring FCCB’s message of “No Matter Who You Are or Where You Are on Life’s Journey, You Are Welcome Here.”
- Engages the children in creative play, songs, stories, and otherwise provide a happy, wholesome experience.
- Cleans and puts the space back into order after worship service.
- Follows the policies and procedures established by the Faith Formation Board that define a safe and healthy church nursery program.
- Communicates with the Director of Community Life any concerns or needs for making the space a safe and welcoming environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated positive work experience with infants and toddlers.
- Demonstrated positive, respectful and effective communication skills.
- Current (or can be obtained prior to first day of employment) infant CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Demonstrated welcoming and respectful manner toward all people without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, country of origin, religion, or socioeconomic status.
- Satisfactory background check and drug screening, as well as completion of training on safe church policy for children and youth.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- The Employee Policy Handbook contains detailed information on terms of employment.
- A Letter of Agreement for the position will specify the work hours and the compensation for the position.
- Hire is contingent on a background check (see Employee Handbook for details).
