Bristol School is seeking a Choir/Theater Arts teacher. The right candidates will join a high-achieving, student-centered organization. Bristol School is looking for individuals who are committed to continuous improvement and best practices within a school community. Under the direct supervision of the building principals, the middle school choir/theater arts teacher will prepare, organize, and facilitate choir programming and theater/performance arts courses. The Choir/Performing Arts Teacher will work with all students within the classroom to introduce children to various musical performers and styles, fostering an appreciation for music.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in music or a similar field
- Wisconsin DPI Licensure for choral music education (1511), grades K-8 or K-12
- Google Workspace for Education experience preferred.
- Experience directing choral and theater performances
- Experience with Student Information Systems for proper documentation of attendance, discipline, grading, guardian communication, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and generate excitement around the choral music and theater arts program for grades 5-8
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule student performances at school and in the greater community
- Evaluate student performance and demonstrate gains in student performance
- Communicate positively and effectively with all students, staff, and parents
- Develop positive relationships with students, staff, and the school community and engage in the school community by contributing to school initiatives and projects beyond classroom duties
- Engage in ongoing professional learning
- Engage in regular and consistent communication with students and families regarding learning progress
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
- Develop, administer, and evaluate quality formative and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and problem-solving skills
- Implements current best practice instruction and resources (e.g. focus on student needs/goals, classroom priorities, etc.) for the purpose of improving and enhancing student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
- Maintains documentation and required reports (e.g. student data and reports; personal teaching certification; etc.) for the purpose of complying with site, district, policy, administrative, state and/or federal statutes and regulations.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc., and communicates these objectives to students.
- Directs teacher assistants, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
