Position Summary

The Children's Operational Leader (COL) coordinates and facilitates patient care for clinical units within Maynard Children's Hospital. The COL is responsible for overseeing and enforcing criteria for safe, quality patient care. The COL will provide emergency response for pediatric patients throughout the organization acting as the lead nursing resource during these responses. The COL coordinates patient care and staffing resources throughout Maynard Children's services and ensures efficient, safe delivery of patient care at all times. Through procurement of resources, education, guidance of nursing and organizational activities during the designated shift, the COL facilitates the delivery of safe patient care, patient throughput, and ensures all operational initiatives are met. The COL holds accountability and responsibility for assisting with patient or family needs, providing staff guidance and support, maintaining environment of care, ensuring patient throughput, and providing regional consultations for nursing care delivery as needs arise. The COL works in conjunction with the unit charge nurses, unit leadership, and senior Maynard Children's leadership to identify, address, and resolve any variance in service delivery throughout the designated shift.

Minimum Requirements

NC RN License

Associates or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing

American Heart Association BLS is required upon hire

NRP is required within one year of hire

PALS required within six months of hire

At least two years of experience in inpatient pediatrics or neonatal care

Leadership experience preferred (ex. Charge nurse, assist nurse, committee chair)

3 - 5 years of clinical experience working with neonatal or pediatric patients required.

Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written

Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of staff

Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Ability to function as a leader, team member and execute the desired outcomes

Must exhibit creative, positive problem-solving abilities

Ability to foster collaboration between multiple parties

Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, and determine a course of action

Ability to consider diverse opinions and incorporate them into the decision-making process

Commitment to a high standard of customer service

Pay Range

Pay Range for Children's Operational Leader: $38.40 - $52.80

Final Compensation will be based on career ladder placement

Position: 0.9 FTE (3) 12hour shifts / week - Rotating shifts
