Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Childcare Director for a respected faith-based nonprofit organization in San Jose, California. This is a full-time, onsite leadership opportunity overseeing the daily operations of a childcare program serving children and families within a supportive residential community. The Childcare Director will lead a team of childcare professionals, ensure compliance with state licensing requirements, oversee curriculum implementation, and foster a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment where children can thrive.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Childcare Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and success of the childcare program. This role provides day-to-day operational oversight while ensuring compliance with California licensing regulations, supervising staff, managing program administration, supporting parent engagement, and maintaining a high-quality learning environment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and mission-driven leader with a passion for early childhood education, staff development, and serving families.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the daily operations of the childcare program while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.
Supervise, coach, and develop childcare staff, volunteers, and interns while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
Ensure compliance with all California childcare licensing regulations, maintain required documentation, and prepare for inspections and audits.
Manage curriculum implementation, enrollment records, reporting, billing, and overall program administration.
Build positive relationships with parents through regular communication, meetings, and family engagement activities.
Support departmental initiatives, special projects, and continuous program improvement while advancing organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum of five years of experience working with children, including leadership or supervisory experience within a licensed childcare setting.
Strong knowledge of California childcare licensing regulations and program compliance.
Current CPR and First Aid Certification with a valid California Driver's License.
Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
