MUSTANG PARKS & RECREATION
 
JOB TITLE: Childcare Attendant I
Pay Rate: $8.00/HR
Part-time hours preferred:15-20 hours per week
HOURS:  Primarily Monday - Friday mornings, 8am to Noon or afternoon/evenings, 4-8pm
 
Purpose of Position: This is a non-exempt part time position in the Parks and Recreation Department that will be responsible for the care and well-being of children in the childcare rooms.
 
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to Head Childcare Attendant
 
Essential Duties
  • Maintain a strong dedication to high quality customer service.
  • Create a friendly, professional, and positive first impression with general public through a professional and friendly demeanor including dress, and personal grooming.
  • Greet and make children feel welcome. Ensuring proper procedures are followed to maintain safety and control of the check-in and out process.
  • Comfort and meet the psychological and physical needs of the children through age appropriate play, physical contact including holding, and other techniques to ensure a pleasant and safe experience for the children while they are in care.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the childcare areas to ensure the over-all safety of the children entrusted to our care.
  • Keep parents informed of all incidents, and complete appropriate forms.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and reflect that attitude in all relationships.
  • Keep supervisor advised of any issues or concerns. Ask for assistance as needed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, city and department policies and procedures.
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Training and Experience
    • Experience working with infants or young children
  • Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
    • Ability to work well and communicate effectively with children and adults.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Average physical condition is needed to keep up with active children. Able to lift, hold infants and young children.
  • License and Certificates
    • Possess and maintain Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (or equivalent) within three months of employment.
    • Possess and maintain workplace harassment training and blood borne pathogen training within three months of employment.
  • Work Environment
    • Work will be indoors.
    • Standing, bending, stooping, picking up and holding infants and toddlers. Play active games and keep up with young children.
    • Must wear closed-toed shoes.
