TITLE: Childcare Assistant - Intergenerational Literacy Program
LOCATION: 99 Hawthorne Street, Chelsea, MA 02150
SCHEDULE: 8-19.5 hours per week
RATE: $20.23
ABOUT THE INTERGENERATIONAL LITERACY PROGRAM:
The Intergenerational Literacy Program (ILP), a program of the Chelsea Public Schools, provides instruction to
adults, out-of-school youth, and families. The program offers courses in English for Speakers of Other
Languages (ESOL) and preparation for high school equivalency exams (HiSET/GED) in Spanish. Classes are
also offered for parents and caregivers who want to improve their reading and writing, and who want to learn
how to further support their children in school. All in-person classes are supplemented by children's classes, so
that parents and caregivers can attend class while their children prepare for pre-K, receive homework help, and
engage in activities that develop social and emotional learning. More information about the ILP can be found at ilp.chelseaschools.com.
DUTIES:
? Provide instruction and care for infants, toddlers, and school-aged children, under the direction of the ILP director and children''s instructors
? Participates in weekly professional development seminars for ILP staff
? Perform other job-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
? An adult who has participated in the Intergenerational Literacy Program (ILP) preferred
? Proficiency in Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, or Somali preferred
