Job Title: Child Nutrition Service Van Driver Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Child Nutrition Supervisor and Warehouse Foreman Pay Grade: Auxiliary Pay Plan Pay Grade 3

Dept./School: Child Nutrition Services

Funding Source: 101 Food Service Fund Date Revised: November 14, 2019

District Primary Purpose: To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement.

Department Primary Purpose: To transport food to schools in accordance with food service regulations regarding safety and sanitation of prepared and raw foods.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED required

Valid Texas Driver's License.

Demonstrate aptitude for successful performance.

Ability to work with others.

Experience/Knowledge:

Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).

Must have or obtain certification to operate a forklift.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To establish rapport with personnel at all schools in order to become an integral part of the overall success of the food service delivery system.
  • To be able to lift and carry 45 pounds without assistance.
  • To deliver food and supplies to all cafeterias as requested, maintaining the proper temperature of

foods during transport.

  • To follow all inventory procedures and controls applicable to supplies and

requisitions. Ensures Manager are checking in materials requisitioned from warehouse.

  • To learn proper safety procedures; to follow safety regulations in the performance of duties; and

to report accidents immediately.

  • To store incoming foods and USDA commodities from vendors in Central Warehouse.
  • Assists the Manager in storing incoming deliveries of dry and freezer items at the campuses.
  • To clean the cooler, freezer, warehouse, and other kitchens as deemed necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to control vehicle at all times.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Standing, walking, pushing, and pulling. Heavy lifting and carrying; some stooping, bending, and kneeling. Ability to drive large vehicles.
