Serve as a resource and advocate on child development issues Essential DutiesThe Child Life Specialist is responsible for the assessment documentation intervention and evaluation of patientfamily psychosocial and developmental strengths and risks in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary patient care team. The Child Life Specialist in collaboration with medical andor nursing staff conducts medical play and psychological preparation with patients to facilitate patient and family understanding of medical procedures to provide opportunities to express feelings to minimize fear of such procedures to promote a sense of mastery and to provide coping strategies. Support during procedures is provided when indicated.
