What youll do on a typical day
The Child Development Center Staff II, Lead Teacher position is a twelve month position. This position works in a fully equipped, high-quality classroom and holds primary responsibility for designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate early care and education environment. This position reports directly to the Director of the Child Development Center and has the following responsibilities:
- Promote the college mission, vision and values
- Designing, implementing, and evaluating developmentally appropriate classroom environments that reflect and support diversity for children aged six weeks to five years
- Integrating principles of child development into all aspects of program planning and daily practice
- Modeling research-based, current best practices in early childhood care and education
- Observing, documenting, and assessing development and learning at both individual and group levels
- Demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to working collaboratively within a team-based environment
- Maintaining accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records for each child
- Consulting with the Director and/or Assistant Director of the Child Development Center to recommend appropriate resources and referrals for families as needed
- Supervising Early Childhood Education students in the classroom, providing timely and constructive feedback on assignments, observations, and cooperative work experiences
- Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

Successful candidates will possess:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience in an Early Childhood setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience working with preschool-aged children, particularly in a Pre-K setting.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of child development and early childhood education best practices.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Competence in using technology for both instructional and administrative purposes.
Work environment
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus and College locations; travel between campus locations may be required; and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.
