(ASI) at California State University, Long Beach, is recruiting a Chief Student Involvement Officer to join their leadership team in Long Beach, California. ASI exists to enhance the student experience by creating dynamic programs, services, and spaces that support student success, engagement, wellness, and belonging across campus life.

With more than $100 million in assets, ASI oversees and operates many of the most visible and impactful student-facing facilities and services at CSULB, including the University Student Union, Student Recreation & Wellness Center, Isabel Patterson Child Development Center, student government, 22 West Media, Beach Pantry, campus programming, and more. ASI also funds scholarships, large-scale campus events, and student-led initiatives that shape the daily student experience for tens of thousands of students.

About this role:

This newly created executive leadership position represents a significant investment in the future of student engagement and campus life at CSULB.

Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a key member of the Student Auxiliary Enterprises leadership team, the Chief Student Involvement Officer will provide strategic leadership across a broad portfolio of student-facing departments, programs, services, facilities, and partnerships. This leader will play a central role in shaping how students experience community, involvement, wellness, recreation, leadership development, and campus connection.

The scope is both highly visible and deeply impactful, spanning student government, student unions, recreation and wellness, events and programming, media, basic needs initiatives, vendor partnerships, and auxiliary operations. The Chief Student Involvement Officer will collaborate closely with campus leadership, student leaders, ASI senior staff, and CSU stakeholders to ensure programs and facilities evolve alongside the changing needs of today's students.

For an experienced student affairs or auxiliary services leader, this is an opportunity to shape strategy at scale while influencing the future student experience at one of California's largest and most dynamic public universities.

Scope & Impact

    Provide executive leadership for ASI's student-facing departments, programs, and facilities, including:
  • University Student Union
  • Student Recreation & Wellness Center
  • Isabel Patterson Child Development Center
  • Beach Pantry & Kitchen
  • Grow Beach Garden
  • Beach Pride Events
  • Student Government
  • 22 West Media
  • Campus Events Office
  • Lead and develop a large, multi-layered organization consisting of:
  • 5-7 senior leaders/direct reports
  • 30-50 employees within each operational area
  • Approximately 350 indirect part-time student employees
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Director and executive leadership team on organizational planning, student engagement strategy, operations, and long-range initiatives
  • Build strong partnerships with student government leaders, campus departments, university administration, and community stakeholders
  • Ensure student facilities and programs remain vibrant centers of campus life that support student success, retention, persistence, and belonging
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer on annual budgeting, long-range facility planning, renovations, vendor partnerships, and operational sustainability
  • Oversee assessment strategies and continuous improvement efforts to ensure high-quality student-centered services and experiences
  • Represent ASI in partnership with the CSU Chancellor's Office, CSULB leadership, campus auxiliaries, and external community partners
  • Support advancement and fundraising efforts, including sponsorships, grants, donor engagement, and strategic partnerships
  • Lead contract negotiations, vendor relationships, and commercial partnerships within ASI-managed spaces
