The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) provides strategic, operational, and professional leadership for nursing and designated clinical operations, ensuring alignment with Advocate Health's mission, vision, and values. As a transformational leader, the CNO fosters an inclusive, high-performing environment focused on patient- and consumer-centered care that is safe, effective, efficient, timely, and equitable. The CNO upholds national standards and evidence-based practices, promotes nursing excellence, and drives clinical quality outcomes, patient experience, teammate engagement, and financial performance. This role oversees the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of efficient care systems, and participates in long-range planning, goal setting, and program development for nursing functions. The CNO collaborates closely with the Chief Medical Officer and works within a matrixed, interprofessional leadership structure, guided by AONL competencies and ANA standards and ethics.
