Description of Work
The Chief Medical Officer (Medical Director I) at JFK ADATC oversees the Medical (Psychiatry and Primary Care) and Pharmacy Departments. The physician provides clinical leadership by supervising psychiatrists, the Primary Care Medical Director, the Pharmacy Director, and Advance Practice Providers. Responsibilities include ensuring high-quality patient care, consulting on complex cases, and delivering direct care when needed. The role includes managing medical staffing, recruitment, credentialing, privileging, and performance evaluations. The physician also helps develop and implement facility policies, coordinates interdepartmental functions, participates in leadership meetings, and represents the facility in the broader Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities through performance reporting, committees, and workgroups.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $170,121.00 - $340,243.00
Recruitment Range: $163,783.00 - $310,000.00
*A Sign-on bonus of $20,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Minimum Education and Experience

Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina and three years of experience including two years in health services delivery management.
