Position Summary
Seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide clinical leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of all medical operations within the organization. The CMO will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting organizational growth, provider performance, compliance, and quality initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a strong physician leader with experience in primary care, value-based care, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary team management.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Provide strategic oversight of all clinical programs and medical services
- Establish and maintain clinical standards, protocols, and best practices
- Ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care across all service lines
- Lead initiatives focused on patient safety, clinical quality, and outcomes improvement
- Support the development and implementation of population health and preventive care strategies
Provider Oversight & Mentorship
- Supervise and support physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and clinical staff
- Assist with provider recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, and retention
- Conduct provider evaluations and support professional development initiatives
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and patient-focused clinical culture
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations
- Oversee clinical risk management and quality assurance programs
- Collaborate with administrative leadership on policies and operational compliance
Operational & Strategic Responsibilities
- Partner with executive leadership to support organizational growth and strategic planning
- Analyze clinical performance metrics and implement improvement initiatives
- Assist in budgeting, staffing models, and operational efficiencies
- Support expansion of healthcare programs and community outreach initiatives
- Participate in payer relations, value-based care programs, and quality reporting initiatives
Patient & Community Engagement
- Promote patient satisfaction and continuity of care
- Represent the organization in professional and community settings
- Strengthen relationships with hospitals, specialists, and healthcare partners
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Active and unrestricted New York State medical license
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or related primary care specialty
- Strong understanding of outpatient primary care operations and healthcare regulations
- Experience with quality improvement, value-based care, and population health management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- EMR proficiency required
