Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for the ongoing development and continuous quality improvement of an effective instructional program and system-level advancement of the mission and objectives established by Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Board of Education and Superintendent.
Provide instructional leadership, direction, and support to the Division of Teaching and Learning in coordination and alignment of effective research-based programs to support high academic achievement for all student groups.
Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum as aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
Ensure district-wide teaching and learning goals, strategic objectives, and initiatives are aligned with district goals and initiatives.
Provide leadership and collaboration across the Division of Teaching and Learning to ensure resources and supports are prioritized to meet individual school needs.
Support coherence across all program areas in the Division of Teaching and Learning.
Communicate the strategic direction for all program improvement initiatives in a collaborative manner.
Ensure that curricula, rigor, methods, and language are horizontally and vertically aligned across grades, levels, and schools.
Maintain current knowledge of K-12 educational trends and best practices.
Provide division leadership to support high quality implementation of the district's strategic plans, including curriculum, instructional practices, and school culture.
Act as the divisional representative on the Superintendent's Cabinet and in other appropriate settings.
Collaborate with members of the Superintendent's Cabinet to ensure coordinated planning and consistent implementation of the district's strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
Supervise and evaluate the work of the Executive Director of Teaching & Learning ? Core Programs, Executive Director of Teaching & Learning ? Enrichment & Support Programs, Director of Program Development, Executive Director of Staff Development, Executive Director of Special Education & Psychological Services, Executive Director of Early Learning & School Readiness, and Executive Director of College & Career Development.
Monitor the development and management of program budgets.
Review the effective use of district resources and make appropriate recommendations to the Superintendent.
Assist in the recruitment, recommendation for appointment, and development of local school principals and appropriate division leaders as needed.
Foster a work environment that is student-focused, results-oriented, and focused on instructional improvements and increased student achievement for every child.
Attend regular board meetings and prepare such reports for the board as the Superintendent directs.
Communicate with internal and external audiences to field questions and concerns from key stakeholders.
Articulate and communicate programs and processes across the Division of Teaching and Learning.
Lead cross divisional data quality processes, analysis, and reporting of student achievement data.
Work with federal, state, and community agencies to further GCPS ' mission, vision, and goals.
