Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This role will lead the organization's people strategy, ensuring alignment between talent initiatives and business objectives across a growing multi-site manufacturing organization.

The CHRO will oversee all aspects of Human Resources, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, organizational development, leadership development, succession planning, performance management, compliance, and culture. This individual will serve as a trusted business advisor to executive leadership, helping drive organizational performance through effective people strategies rather than functioning solely as an administrative HR leader.

The ideal candidate will bring experience supporting complex manufacturing operations and will have played a meaningful role in organizational growth, transformation, and acquisition integration efforts.

This position requires significant on-site presence and regular travel to support multiple facilities and leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Align workforce strategies with business objectives, growth initiatives, and long-term organizational goals.
  • Participate in executive-level decision making and provide guidance on organizational effectiveness, talent risks, succession planning, and workforce optimization.
  • Help shape and reinforce a high-performance, accountability-driven culture across the organization.

Talent Strategy & Organizational Development

  • Develop and execute enterprise-wide talent strategies focused on attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Lead succession planning and workforce planning efforts across all functions and locations.
  • Design and implement leadership development programs and career advancement frameworks.
  • Drive organizational development initiatives, change management efforts, and culture-building programs.

Human Resources Leadership

  • Oversee all HR functions including:
    • Talent Acquisition
    • Compensation & Benefits
    • Employee Relations
    • Performance Management
    • Leadership Development
    • Compliance & Policy Administration
  • Ensure consistent HR practices and employee experiences across all facilities.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Lead compensation strategy, including market benchmarking, salary structures, incentive programs, and rewards strategies.
  • Oversee benefits administration and evaluate programs to ensure competitiveness and employee satisfaction.

Growth & Integration

  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and organizational expansion initiatives.
  • Lead HR due diligence, workforce assessments, change management planning, and integration efforts associated with acquisitions.
  • Help ensure smooth cultural and operational integration of acquired businesses.

Culture & Employee Engagement

  • Champion initiatives that foster employee engagement, accountability, continuous improvement, and leadership excellence.
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen organizational culture while maintaining alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop programs that reinforce company values and support a positive employee experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree and/or SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience, including significant executive-level HR leadership responsibility.
  • Experience serving as the senior HR leader for a multi-site manufacturing organization.
  • Demonstrated success partnering directly with executive leadership teams on talent strategy, workforce planning, organizational design, and business transformation initiatives.
  • Strong expertise across compensation, benefits, recruiting, employee relations, organizational development, leadership development, succession planning, and compliance.
  • Experience supporting organizational growth, acquisitions, mergers, or post-acquisition integrations preferred.
  • Union experience is not required but would be considered a plus.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to translate people strategies into measurable business outcomes.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly in support of multiple facilities.

  • Base Salary Target: $170,000 - $220,000
