Role Overview:

The Chief Financial and Operating Officer serves as the agency's senior financial and operational officer and a member of the Executive Leadership Team. The position provides executive leadership for the agency's fiscal operations, accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting; manages the agency's grant applications and all federal and state grant reporting requirements; and develops and implements the agency's annual budget in partnership with the Executive Director. The Chief Operating Officer supervises the agency's finance staff and provides strategic oversight of the operational systems that support the agency's work. This is a leadership role grounded in financial stewardship, sound judgment, and a commitment to the responsible use of public and grant funds in service of people with disabilities.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Facilitate statewide initiatives, which cross organization lines so that program development, implementation and service delivery are comprehensive, coordinated, and are not duplicative.
  • Coordinate communication, education, and performance issues between the regional/field staff and the Central Office.
  • Develop both short- and long-term strategies to foster compliance and cost-efficient service delivery.
  • Evaluate accomplishments toward established goals and makes adjustment in goals, methods or procedures as need arises.
  • Represent the division at public meetings and task forces, and to present information of importance.
  • Provide necessary support for staff training by approving programs conducted and initiates such programs when necessary.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

  • Considerable knowledge of state government operations, managerial, administrative, budgetary, and personnel related regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
  • Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
