Job Title: Chief Estimator
Location: Myrtle Beach, SC
Industry: Underground Utility & Heavy Civil Construction
Employment Type: Permanent, Direct Placement
Compensation: $125,000-$150,000

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive, and timely project bids. The ideal candidate will have strong estimating expertise and hands-on experience using industry-standard estimating and project management software. This role is critical to developing profitable bids and supporting successful project execution.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
+ Review and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documents to define full project scope
+ Develop estimates using B2W Estimate software
+ Perform quantity takeoffs utilizing AGTEK and Bluebeam software
+ Create and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project
+ Solicit, analyze, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes
+ Collaborate with project managers and operations teams during bid reviews and project handoff
+ Identify risks, cost drivers, and value-engineering opportunities
+ Maintain historical cost data and improve estimating accuracy over time
+ Support post-bid analysis and continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications
+ 5+ years of estimating experience (compensation DOE)
+ Proficient in B2W Estimate software
+ Preferred experience with AGTEK, Bluebeam and Microsoft Project
+ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
+ Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines
Preferred Experience
+ Estimating experience in civil, earthwork, or heavy construction environments
+ Familiarity with current material pricing, production rates, and market trends
