Job Summary

Manage the Bank's overall credit quality. Participate in the development and recommendation of loan growth objectives, policies and procedures that meet compliance regulations and maximize yield while maintaining quality control and minimizing loss; approve and recommend loans as defined in the loan policy; represent the Bank in the banking community, promote Bank services. Maintain effective communication with banking regulators.

Senior Executive Responsibilities

  • Most Senior Executive of the Bank in the absence of the President/CEO.
  • Provides proactive advice on risks and strategies and is essential in the determination of the strategic direction of the Bank and in the execution of the business plan in all areas of the Bank.
  • Principal spokesperson for all credit related issues including setting of Bank's reserves, policies and products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure acceptable asset quality through a sound underwriting process of loans presented for approval.
  • Ensure acceptable credit standards are maintained and that loans conform to established policy, procedures and regulations for loan management; oversees the management of the Bank's criticized and classified loan portfolios; monitor loan repayment activities and take necessary action to collect from past-due accounts
  • Monitor the lending portfolio to ensure loans are risk graded appropriately through regular portfolio reviews.
  • Establish and maintain the Loan Policy. Periodically review and reevaluate its adequacy and effectiveness. Communicate and interpret lending policies.
  • Responsible for ALLL monitoring and reporting. Make adjustments to the methodology as necessary to ensure the Bank has adequately reserved for the risk.
  • Responsible for providing communication to reporting staff regarding performance, including formal annual performance reviews.
  • Manage and report graded credits as required per policy; responsible for all collection and foreclosure activity
  • Makes reports to Director's Loan Committee; responsible for minutes.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly lending activity and portfolio condition reports for Board of Directors, committees and regulatory agencies. Keep abreast of new developments in the field of lending and regulatory/legislative requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Business Management, Accounting or related field; or five to ten years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of ten years at increasing levels of responsibility in position in the financial industry; proven abilities in the management and direction of a Commercial lending department.

BSA/AML/ Compliance

Responsibilities

This position includes direct or indirect interaction with customers and other employees and therefore includes responsibilities relating to BSA/AML. The employee will have opportunity to examine and view information and documents produced by other employees of the Bank relating to BSA and therefore has the obligation to report suspicious activity to the BSA Officer as appropriate. The employee is responsible for understanding and following the Bank's BSA/AML policies including elevating suspicious activity to the BSA Officer. Additionally, the employee is required to understand and follow the Bank's compliance program.
