Job Description:

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Chemistry faculty member supports the mission of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and the School of STEM by providing high-quality, inclusive instruction in chemistry and related disciplines. The position contributes to equitable student outcomes by designing engaging classroom and laboratory experiences that prepare students for transfer, workforce pathways, and careers in science-related fields. Responsibilities include curriculum development, laboratory instruction and safety compliance, student advising, program assessment, and engagement with industry and academic partners to ensure program relevance and quality. Faculty are expected to uphold the college's values of access, equity, and excellence while fostering a safe and collaborative learning environment that supports the success of all students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master"s degree in chemistry; or a master's degree with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Chemistry.

Additional Considerations:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching general chemistry and laboratory courses, or concepts.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, instrumentation, and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Experience developing curriculum for lecture and lab formats (in-person and/or online)
  • Experience using a learning management system (e.g., Canvas) to support instruction
  • Experience supporting diverse populations
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with industry or transfer institutions
