Job Title: Chemical Recausticizing Assistant Superintendent

Responsibilities
- Manage safety, environmental, production, and cost parameters associated with the conversion processes in the pulp mill
- Oversee day-to-day and long-term operations of liquor making, calciner, and evaporator trains
- Develop competency in other mill operations and assist during call outs or absences of other Assistant Superintendents
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment, ensuring adherence to safety rules and environmental permits
- Complete and manage environmental documentation accurately and timely
- Provide process and technical expertise for liquor making, calciner, and evaporators; troubleshoot operational issues
- Coordinate maintenance activities, including work orders and safety procedures such as lock-out/tag-out
- Assist with capital project development and planning, including collaborating with Engineering and Maintenance teams
- Prepare and monitor operational budgets, and document reasons for variances
- Verify employee competence, provide process guidance, and enforce workplace expectations and policies
- Purchase tools, chemicals, and parts as needed; attend technical seminars for ongoing training
- Evaluate and recommend process improvements and support related trials
Requirements- Experience in pulp mill operations and chemical recausticizing processes
- Understanding of kraft liquor cycle chemistry and mechanical operation of relevant equipment
- Ability to develop and support safety and environmental initiatives
- Supervisory experience managing hourly employees in an industrial setting
- Strong troubleshooting, coordination, and communication skills
- Capable of creating maintenance and capital project plans
- High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical or operational training preferred
