The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day chemical handling and packaging operations at a manufacturing site in Danbury, CT. This individual will be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient production while leading a large, hourly workforce across operations, planning, packaging, and shipping. The role reports directly to the Site General Manager and plays a critical part in driving operational performance, safety culture, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations for chemical handling, packaging, and shipping to meet production and customer demands
- Directly lead and develop a team of approximately 30-40 employees
- Enforce and continuously improve safety protocols related to hazardous and flammable materials
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and employee training
- Oversee production planning, scheduling, and inventory management for raw materials and finished goods
- Ensure packaging meets quality standards and customer specifications
- Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput and reduce waste
- Monitor KPIs related to safety, productivity, inventory, and on-time shipment performance
- Prepare and present operational performance reports to site leadership
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
- 5+ years of operations or manufacturing management experience in a chemical or hazardous materials environment
- Proven experience managing teams of 30+ employees in a production setting
- Strong knowledge of chemical handling, packaging operations, and safety regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA)
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Comfortable working hands-on in a manufacturing environment
- ERP experience (D365 or similar) and strong inventory management skills
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities
