About Clew's Kitchen
Clew's Kitchen is a newly created small business, selling unique savory biscuits that are GF and protein forward. We take pride in every batch we bake, and we're looking for someone who shares that same love for great food and has an entrepenurial spirit.
About the Role
We're looking for a skilled, motivated Chef / Kitchen Operations Manager to join Clew's Kitchen on a part-time, flexible basis. This is more than a baking role you'll be a key operational partner, helping to grow production, manage the kitchen efficiently, and represent the business at pop-up and market events.
You'll work closely with the founder, take ownership of day-to-day kitchen operations, and have the potential to step up and keep the business running independently including during a period of maternity leave. As the business grows, there is also the exciting opportunity to manage additional kitchen staff in the future.
This is an ideal role for someone with baking or culinary experience who is ready to take on real responsibility in a growing independent food business.
What You'll Be Doing
Kitchen & Production
- Leading biscuit production mixing, baking, and packaging to consistently high standards
- Maintaining strict food hygiene and sanitation standards in line with food safety regulations
- Ensuring all recipes and quality standards are followed precisely with every batch
- Identifying opportunities for cost-effective production without compromising on quality
Inventory & Operations
- Managing ingredient and packaging inventory, including ordering and stock control
- Building and maintaining clear communication with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing
- Keeping accurate records of stock levels, wastage, and production output
- Supporting cost management across kitchen operations to help the business run efficiently
Events & Customer Experience
- Setting up and running stalls at pop-up and market events, including customer-facing service
- Preparing event-specific stock, packaging, and logistics in advance
- Representing Clew's Kitchen with professionalism and warmth at every event
Communication & Leadership
- Maintaining clear, proactive communication with the owner on all operational matters
- Taking initiative and managing the kitchen independently when required
- Supporting the onboarding and management of additional kitchen staff as the business grows
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen, bakery, or food production environment
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, sanitation standards, and food safety regulations
- Experience managing inventory, stock control, or supplier relationships
- Ability to operate cost-consciously and make practical, budget-aware decisions
- Excellent communication skills reliable, clear, and proactive with both the owner and external vendors
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexible availability, including potential weekends for market events
Desirable
- Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Experience working at markets, pop-ups, or in a customer-facing food setting
- Previous experience supervising or supporting a small team
- Understanding of small business or sole trader operations
Growth Potential
This role is designed to grow with the business. As Clew's Kitchen expands, the right candidate will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility including managing additional kitchen staff and playing a central role in shaping how the business operates day to day.
What We Offer
- A flexible, part-time schedule built around your availability
- A key leadership role within a growing independent food business
- A warm, collaborative working environment with real ownership over your work
- Hands-on experience across baking, operations, events, and small business management
