Charge Registered Nurse - Medical Specialties

Wellstar Kennestone Hospital is seeking an experienced Charge Registered Nurse to provide clinical leadership for our Medical Specialties unit. In this role, you will oversee daily unit operations, support staff, coordinate patient flow, and help ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for daily unit operations during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate safe, efficient patient care and appropriate patient assignments.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication among the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and Wellstar policies.
  • Monitor patient flow, staffing needs, and resource utilization to support quality outcomes.
  • Round on patients to evaluate care, address concerns, and promote service excellence.
  • Partner with physicians and care teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
  • Support performance improvement, shared governance, evidence-based practice, and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in staff development through coaching, mentoring, and precepting.
  • Assist with scheduling, staffing adjustments, survey readiness, and other operational responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associate Degree or Diploma required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience

  • Previous charge nurse or leadership experience preferred.
  • Recent acute care nursing experience required.

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Georgia Registered Nurse license or Multi-State Compact RN license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
