Job Description:

The Clinton Board of Education is seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as the Business Manager of the Clinton Public Schools. The Business Manager is responsible for the overall fiscal operations and management of financial affairs of the district and shall have direct oversight and supervision of all day-to-day functions of the business office including payroll, employee benefits, purchasing, grants, and accounting and reporting. Additional oversight responsibilities include financial planning and budgeting, bidding and contracts, collective bargaining, capital planning and projects, student transportation, and food service.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or equivalent
  • Experience in school business leadership and management is preferred
  • Current CT School Business Administrator (085) Certification
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrated:
  • a thorough knowledge of fund accounting and generally accepted accounting principles
  • the ability to establish, implement, and ensure appropriate purchasing policy and controls;
  • the ability to adhere to accurate and timely reporting and reconciliation protocols;
  • the ability to build and maintain strong relationship, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others;
  • experience with financial software systems
  • a record of leadership in project management and completion
  • an understanding of the influence and interaction of business operations to all school departments

Position Details:

  • Start Date: September 28, 2026
  • Total compensation $150,000-$170,000, commensurate with the successful candidates qualifications, experience, and demonstrated expertise. Comprehensive benefits package including employer-sponsored pension
