Certified Veterinary Technician

Since 1982, pet owners in the Lomira area have come to rely on our veterinary services at Veterinary Village.  Our clinic has 7 practicing veterinarians and is committed to providing high-quality care for pets.   

Our certified veterinary technicians (CVT) play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients and supporting our veterinarians in delivering outstanding veterinary services.  Your expertise and technical skills will be utilized in various areas, including anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, dentistry, laboratory procedures, radiography, client education and nursing care. 

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technicians to join our team.  We have both full-time (over 30 hours/week) and part-time (under 29 hours/week) positions available. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and handling with a passion for providing high-quality veterinary services. This role requires a blend of technical skills, knowledge of veterinary practices, strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

1. Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with current licensure in Wisconsin.
2. A strong work ethic and positive attitude team member.
3. Ability to arrive at work on time and work when scheduled.
4. Proficient in anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, laboratory procedures, and radiography.
5. Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
8. Compassionate, caring, and dedicated to providing exceptional patient care.
9. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols and procedures.
10. Flexibility to work some weekends and holidays as needed.
11. Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 100# with assistance.
12. A self-starting team player with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset.
13. Ability to receive constructive feedback in a professional manner to maintain hospital efficiency.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed.
2. Induce, monitor and recover pets from anesthesia under the direction of DVM.
3. Perform dental cleanings and dental radiographs.
4. Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, as well as providing client education.
5. Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs of the patient during surgery.
6. Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
7. Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures.
8. Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
9. Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
10. Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment, and lab areas; restock exam rooms with supplies. Assist other team members to keep the public areas of the practice clean; clean and maintain all medical equipment.
11. Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions with clients; exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients.
12. Communicate with veterinarians and practice team members including client discussions, patient plans, client concerns, etc.
13. Regular attendance as scheduled.
14. Any other duties as assigned.
