Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Duration: 13-Week Contract

Schedule: Day Shift – 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Weekly

Compensation:

  • Traveler Pay Package: $1,906 per Week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join a high-volume Operating Room team specializing in complex surgical and transplant procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong scrubbing skills, extensive operating room experience, and recent hands-on experience supporting liver transplant surgeries. This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and sterile technique.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Establish and maintain sterile fields throughout surgical cases.
  • Function as the primary scrub technologist during complex surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and efficiently pass instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist with surgical counts and ensure compliance with patient safety protocols.
  • Support transplant, general, and specialty surgical procedures.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and infection prevention standards at all times.
  • Ensure proper handling, preparation, and maintenance of surgical instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to support efficient workflow.
  • Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent cases.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certification required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification required.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of recent Operating Room Surgical Technologist experience required.
  • Recent experience independently scrubbing liver recipient transplant procedures required.
  • Experience with large open abdominal surgical procedures required.
  • Experience in a high-volume surgical environment preferred.

  • Knowledge of robotic-assisted surgical procedures preferred.
  • Strong organizational and critical-thinking abilities.

Additional Information

  • High-volume Operating Room environment.
  • Approximately 35 surgical cases performed daily.
  • Advanced robotic surgery technology utilized within the department.
  • Call requirement of approximately 40–60 hours every six weeks, including holiday coverage.
  • Candidates should be prepared to discuss recent liver transplant experience during the interview process.
