Certified Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: Starting at $24.00/hour
Schedule: Evening Shift | 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM
Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and dependable Certified Sterile Processing Technician to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled sterile processing professional who is committed to maintaining the highest standards of instrument decontamination, sterilization, and patient safety in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Responsibilities
Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices according to manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs), regulatory standards, and department policies.
Prioritize and process instruments received from the decontamination area to ensure timely turnaround for patient care.
Operate sterilization equipment and monitor sterilization cycles to verify proper functioning and compliance with quality standards.
Perform high-level disinfection of reusable medical equipment as required.
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and completeness before assembly and sterilization.
Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Perform routine environmental and workspace cleaning, including instrument rooms, workstations, cabinets, and designated equipment.
Monitor sterilizers and environmental controls to ensure compliance with infection prevention and quality standards.
Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous waste while adhering to safety and infection control guidelines.
Maintain inventory of sterile processing supplies and assist with department organization and workflow.
Collaborate with surgical services and clinical departments to ensure instruments are available when needed.
Perform additional sterile processing duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) orCertified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification required.
Previous sterile processing experience in a hospital or surgical setting required.
Strong knowledge of instrument decontamination, sterilization methods, high-level disinfection, and infection prevention practices.
Familiarity with sterilization equipment, instrument tracking systems, and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs).
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and commitment to patient safety and quality standards.
