Responsibilities
Essential Functions of the CRNA
Determines prepares and ensures necessary medications, equipment, and adjunct therapies for the administration of anesthetics.
Initiates a plan of anesthesia care, general regional monitored anesthesia care, under the supervision or direction of an attending anesthesiologist.
Prepares and tests anesthesia equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Inserts and/or uses invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices for continuous evaluation of the patients status under anesthesia.
Demonstrates proficiency in monitoring and management of airway, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neuromuscular status and emergence and recovery from an anesthetic.
Supervises, instructs, and evaluates student anesthetists.
Qualifications
Licensure and Certification
Maintains current certification in Healthcare Provider BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
