Position Overview
HSA Florida Physician Group, a member of HSA Hospitals (Hospital Systems of America), is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our expanding anesthesia program at Palmetto General Hospital, Miami/Hialeah, South Florida. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, high-quality perioperative team in a well-established hospital setting with a strong commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and provider support. This position is a Per Diem / PRN 1099 independent contractor role with flexible scheduling and substantial professional autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pre‑anesthesia assessments, including review of medical history, medications, allergies, and relevant diagnostic tests.
- Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and benefits with patients and obtain or verify informed consent in accordance with facility policy.
- Develop and implement anesthesia care plans appropriate to the patient and procedure, in collaboration with the anesthesia care team.
- Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care using IV, inhalational, and other modalities as appropriate for medical/surgical procedures.
- Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia; titrate anesthetic agents and adjunct medications to maintain hemodynamic stability and patient safety.
- Manage airway and ventilation (e.g., endotracheal intubation, supraglottic airways, mechanical ventilation, extubating) and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Monitor physiological parameters (e.g., ECG, blood pressure, oxygenation, ventilation, temperature, urine output) and intervene, as necessary.
- Provide post‑anesthesia care, including pain management, hemodynamic stabilization, and safe transfer to PACU or other units, ensuring concise and accurate handoff communication.
- Respond to intraoperative and perioperative emergencies with appropriate resuscitation and advanced airway management.
- Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of anesthesia records in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and continuing education activities, as applicable.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to develop and implement individualized perioperative care plans; participate in case reviews, care planning meetings, and other collaborative decision-making.
- Adhere to hospital bylaws, departmental policies, and professional practice regulations.
- Perform other anesthesia-related duties as requested.
- Obstetric anesthesia shifts are available.
Schedule and Workload
- Per Diem / PRN 1099 independent contractor role.
- Standard shift length: 8 hours.
- Competitive pricing is available for accepting a minimum commitment of at least 2 weekend shifts per month; other after-hour shift options are available.
- Shift guarantee: 2 hours paid, whether cases proceed or take less time.
- Additional shifts may be available based on departmental needs and provider interest.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
- Valid certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
- Current, unrestricted state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Current state licensure/recognition as an APRN/CRNA, as applicable.
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Ability to obtain and maintain professional malpractice insurance as a 1099 contractor.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a CRNA.
- At least 1 year practicing with a high degree of independence (e.g., solo, or largely self‑directed practice) strongly preferred.
- Recent experience providing general anesthesia in a hospital or surgical setting.
- Experience delivering anesthesia in an acute care facility strongly preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered, high-quality perioperative care.
