QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
  • Certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)

Preferred:

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain schedules, documentation, and monthly timesheets
  • Reliable transportation for community-based services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for helping individuals achieve greater independence and quality of life
RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Recreational Therapist, you will:

  • Provide individualized therapeutic recreation services in home and community settings
  • Conduct leisure and recreational assessments
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Help clients build social, recreational, and independent living skills
  • Facilitate therapeutic activities at community locations such as:
    • Parks
    • Fitness centers
    • Zoos
    • Community events
  • Participate in monthly group activities and clubs hosted by the organization
  • Complete required documentation and state-mandated paperwork
  • Attend quarterly support team meetings to review client progress and goals
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams
