40hr Day/Evening: 7:00AM 3:30PM (8.5hr shift) and 3:00PM 11:30PM (8.5hr shift) both shifts include 15 minute and 30 minute breaks. E/O Weekend.

Job Qualifications:
Required Experience: 2+ years Inpatient pharmacy technician
Preferred Experience: 3 4 years Inpatient Pharmacy experience working with Pyxis machines and EPIC.
Required Certifications/ licenses: Massachusetts pharmacy technician license and National Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or ExCPT), BLS.
Additional Comments/Details: Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) is a valuable asset.

Pharmacy Technician Job Description:
The Pharmacy Technician supports daily inpatient pharmacy operations through medication distribution, inventory support, automated dispensing cabinet support, and central pharmacy workflow activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely medication delivery, maintaining medication storage areas, supporting carousel and Pyxis workflows, and assisting with operational tasks that promote safe and efficient patient care. The technician is expected to comply with all *** policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Medication Distribution and Delivery:
Transport and handle medications in accordance with hospital policy, USP standards, and medication safety requirements
Deliver patient medications throughout the hospital, including STAT medications, IV medications, and new medication orders
Ensure medications are delivered prior to scheduled administration times
Assist with medication transport and urgent delivery requests
Return discharged patient medications to the pharmacy
Assist with medication deliveries to designated clinic and patient care areas

Medication Room and Unit Support:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of medication rooms
Identify and return unsecured or loose medications to designated pharmacy return areas
Assist with maintaining medication storage standards and operational readiness

Pyxis and Automated Dispensing Cabinet Support:
Assist with sorting medications into appropriate unit bins during Pyxis pulls
Support replenishment of supplies used for medication pulls, including bags, rubber bands, bins, and related materials
Assist with ADS loads, stockouts, and critical low inventory management
Verify and organize pull bins upon completion of pulls
Assist with troubleshooting automated dispensing cabinet issues, medication discrepancies, and refill variances while escalating concerns appropriately.

Central Pharmacy and Carousel Operations:
Return unused medications to carousel inventory
Assist with carousel inventory management and medication restocking
Support replenishment of Mini-Plus bags and other pharmacy supplies
Assist with receiving and stocking medication orders
Support code tray inventory and return processing
Assist with inventory management activities, including cycle counts and inventory moves
Support pre-packaging and labeling activities
Assist with pneumatic tube station workflows
Maintain accurate documentation within pharmacy systems related to medication deliveries, inventory transactions, returns, and distribution activities.

Operational and Team Support:
Assist with Hospital at Home operational workflows
Participate in pharmacy huddles and operational communications
Communicate with the pharmacist in charge regarding workflow needs, breaks, and operational concerns
Support overall pharmacy workflow and staffing needs as assigned

Inventory Management:
Support medication distribution activities by ensuring timely, accurate delivery and replenishment of medications throughout the hospital and ambulatory clinic areas.
Maintain medication inventory through stock rotation, expiration monitoring, cycle counts, and proper storage practices in compliance with USP and hospital standards.
Process medication returns, transfers, and restocking activities accurately within pharmacy inventory management systems.
Assist with wholesaler deliveries, medication receiving, and inventory reconciliation to support continuity of pharmacy operations.
Maintain clean, organized, and compliant medication storage areas, pharmacy workspaces, and distribution systems.
Support pharmacy operational workflows through quality assurance activities, documentation management, customer service, and adherence to hospital safety and compliance standards.
