What We Offer Responsible for any combination of Cancer Registry functions including, but not limited to: case finding, abstracting, follow-up, monitoring, and statistical reporting of all reportable benign and malignant neoplasms diagnosed or treated within the Novant Health Cancer Institute.

What Were Looking For Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • 2 Year / Associate Degree, required.
  • 3-5 years of experience with ODS.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years with Associate. Experience in Cancer Registry, Medical Records, Nursing, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Public Health, Research, required.
  • 6-9 years with HS/GED. Experience in Cancer Registry, Medical Records, Nursing, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Public Health, Research, required.

Licensure/Certification:

  • ODS, required.

Additional Skills (required):

  • Advanced level of medical terminology
  • Completion of Anatomy and Physiology
  • Basic Statistics and Epidemiology
  • Oncology Knowledge of the disease process, including standards of care: surgical, radiation, and systemic treatment regimes.
  • Knowledge of the American College of Surgeons Program Standards.
  • Coding Courses in ICD0-3, AJCC TNM Staging, SEER Summary Staging, Solid Tumor Rules and relevant state data collection manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy with Medical Staff, Novant Departments, private physician practices, and non-Novant facilities to obtain patient information to resolve staging or coding issues.

Additional Skills (preferred):

  • Experience with Electronic Registry Systems, Inc registry software and working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
