The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is responsible for providing restorative and rehabilitative occupational therapy services under the direction of an Occupational Therapist.
This role supports a participant-centered care model, focusing on improving independence, safety, and quality of life for elderly and frail populations through coordinated interdisciplinary care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
• Administer occupational therapy treatment programs as directed by OT
• Assist with vital signs, range of motion, and strength assessments
• Deliver therapeutic interventions to improve ADLs
Patient Care & Rehabilitation
• Work with elderly/frail participants with complex medical needs
• Promote independence through therapeutic activities
• Support cognitive, balance, endurance, and motor function development
Team Collaboration
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team (IDT)
• Coordinate with therapists and healthcare providers
• Support care plan implementation
Documentation & Scheduling
• Document therapy interventions and patient progress
• Assist with scheduling treatments and clinical visits
• Ensure compliance with care plans and documentation standards
Must-Have Qualifications
• Associate's Degree – Occupational Therapy Assistant (Required)
• Active California OTA License or eligibility (Required)
• Minimum 2+ years of OTA experience
• Experience working with elderly / frail populations
• Strong understanding of ADL-focused rehabilitation
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in outpatient, acute, inpatient, or skilled nursing settings
• Experience in interdisciplinary care models
• Strong patient engagement and communication skills
