Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Reports To: GLASS Supervisor Overseeing OT Dept.

Classification: Classified

Qualifications: Associate in OT Assistant/IN COTA Certificate

Terms of Employment: Up to 29 Hours/Week; 180 School Days

Evaluation: Twice Annually by OT

Compensation: $31.75/Hour

Benefits: Benefit Eligible

Job Description

Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants work directly under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist/s they are assigned. They provide support to the OTR they are assigned to by providing treatment to students and providing treatment resources to the occupational therapist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct therapy under the supervision of the OT, as it relates to education.
  • Assists in the design, fabrication, and adaptation of materials and/or equipment in the educational environment.
  • Provide consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators concerning the strengths and needs of individual students as it relates to education.
  • Work collaboratively with school personnel to support the student's independent functioning within the school setting.
  • Provide and participate with opportunities for in-service trainings as related to special needs, educational supports, provision of OT services and/or state and federal regulations, etc. as related to education.
  • Assist with gathering objective data for evaluations (standardized testing once competency obtained), for annual progress reports, and/or dismissal reports.
  • Ability to complete daily documentation related to services provided to students per department guidelines.
  • Provide objective information to occupational therapist for evaluation, progress reports, and monitoring progress as determined by competency and per occupational therapist direction.
  • Assist in gathering of treatment resources as directed by occupational therapist.
  • Daily treatment notes should be co-signed by the OTR within 7 days of the treatment session occurring.
  • Complete billing requirements for Medicaid eligible reimbursement.
