Position Purpose:
The occupational therapist assistant assists the occupational therapist in carrying out a patient’s established plan of care.
What the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant ( COTA ) Will Do:
+ Accountable for the application of a written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals.
+ Utilizes a variety ofmodalities asappropriate toenhance patient progress. Instructs patients in varying programsappropriate toenhance performance and cultivate progress toward occupational therapy goals.
+ Communicates with and educates patients and their familiesregardingplan of care, home equipment recommendations, considerations foradditionalrehab, discharge planning, home exercise program, self-administered treatments, and familyassistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Must be a graduate from an occupational therapyassistingprogram accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
+ Required:Associate’s Degree.
+ State of Michigan Occupational Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
+ American Heart Association BLS or equivalent.
