Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Special Education or designee, provides assessment, consultation, and/or treatment of children with disabilities who qualify for occupational therapy services. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision within a broad framework of overall objectives. The employee in this classification trains, monitors, supervises, and evaluates staff members in the operational unit.
Responsibilities consist of complex, professional duties at a senior level of job performance.
Requirements Qualifications: • Associate of Arts degree supplemented by completion of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program. • Passed a national examination administered by the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCO) and hold a current California certificate issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy or possess a current California COTA limited permit while completing the NBCOT examination in order to obtain a California certificate issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy. • One year of experience providing occupational therapy services assisting children having mild to severe learning, emotional, and/or physical disabilities or in some instances, multiple disabilities or dual diagnosis. • Familiarity with individual, group, and consultative occupational therapy models. • Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with parents, family members, district personnel, and Occupational Therapists.
