POSITION OVERVIEW
STATUS : 06/08/2026 - 06/08/2027
PAY : $27.50/hour
TYPE : Temp-to-Perm (opportunity to extend or become permanent based on business needs)
SCHEDULE : 12-hour shifts, 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM (must be available weekends; block scheduling required alternating 36-hour week and 48-hour week)
IMPORTANT SCHEDULING REQUIREMENT
Candidates must be available to work weekends and follow rotating block schedules. One week includes 36 hours and the following week includes 48 hours. Schedule adherence is mandatory.
ROLE SUMMARY
This role provides direct patient care support to Veterans/Members in a clinical care setting. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, supporting nursing staff, and maintaining accurate documentation. Candidates must be comfortable working in a structured, high-acuity environment with strict compliance requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Veterans/Members with:
- Transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene
- Daily living activities (ADLs) and comfort care needs
Supports clinical care by:
- Assisting nursing staff with basic procedures (suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care, post-mortem care)
- Monitoring and documenting vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations)
- Collecting specimens (urine, sputum, stool)
- Tracking intake and output
Documentation and reporting:
- Maintaining accurate medical records and worksheets
- Preparing simple reports
- Reporting changes in patient condition to licensed nursing staff
Patient support duties:
- Assisting with meals, meal transport, and dining support
- Communicating meal selections to dining staff
- Responding promptly to call lights and patient requests in accordance with patient rights
Environmental and operational support:
- Maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary patient areas (beds, linens, rooms)
- Transporting patients to appointments as needed
- Performing clerical duties such as answering phones and filing
Emergency support:
- Assisting licensed nurses during emergencies following established procedures
QUALITY AND PROCESS PARTICIPATION
- Participates in AMS processes (Huddle Boards, Problem Solving, Job Breakdown Sheets, Success Tracking, Standardized Work)
- Participates in QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement) programs
- Follows all facility safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Para-professional nursing care principles and practices
- State and agency regulations governing nursing support roles
- Medical equipment usage in clinical care settings
- Safe, sanitary, and therapeutic care environments
Skills in:
- Providing para-professional nursing care techniques
- Using and maintaining medical equipment
- Recording and maintaining medical documentation
- Filing, retrieving, and managing records
- Verbal and written communication
Ability to:
- Build and maintain effective working relationships
- Learn and apply AMS methodologies
- Work in a structured, regulated healthcare environment
