GENERAL SUMMARY
The Certified Nursing Assistant - Health Services provides basic healthcare to students and helps maintain a safe, compliant school environment. The position supports the school nurse in managing students with chronic illnesses, special health needs, and daily medical requirements. Responsibilities include providing basic emergency care, facilitating communication among students, families, and school staff , and collaborating closely with school offi ce personnel and other team members to support effi cient school operations. The role adheres to established health and safety standards to maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked health office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services or designee, the position performs the following essential duties:
Direct Student Care: Assists the school nurse in providing basic healthcare to students and performs fi rst aid procedures and basic emergency care when necessary.
Medication Administration: Administers medication to students exactly as directed by the school nurse.
Record Management: Assists in maintaining accurate, current, and confidential student health records, including immunization records and medical histories; utilizes electronic systems for data entry and record management; and prepares required reports and documentation for county, state, and federal agencies as directed.
Program & Specialized Support: Supports the school nurse in conducting health screenings and health education programs. Supports the school nurse in managing students with chronic illnesses and special health needs.
Operations: Maintains inventory of medical supplies and equipment. Ensures the health office is clean, organized, and adheres to health and safety standards.
Communication: Helps facilitate communication between students, parents, and the school nurse regarding health-related issues.
Compliance: Complies with laws and policies regarding student health services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Certification: Completion of a certificated nursing assistant program. Current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
Experience: Experience in a pediatric setting or school health is preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Technical Skills: Knowledge of first aid procedures and ability to administer medications. Strong understanding of confidentiality obligations
