Category I - All procedures or other job related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues, or a potential for spill or splashes of blood or body fluids.

QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a medical office assistant course or other certifiable training that would provide the incumbent with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job tasks is also required. One year of medical office experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Must have current CPR certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess ability to communicate in the dominant language of the geographic region. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits is required. Independent mobility is also required.

  • Gather appropriate information, i.e. vital signs, current medication, BMI, weight, height, record and convey pertinent information to the provider. Inquire and document all OTC medications, supplements and alternative therapies for patients.
  • Obtain and document smoking status for all patients >13 years of age.
  • Prepare patients for various treatments and diagnostic procedures.
  • Administer/arrange for various diagnostic tests and treatments as instructed by provider.
  • Obtain specimens for laboratory analysis. Perform tests as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records and others records of service rendered.
  • Make and track all appointments and/ or referrals, including community resources as directed by the provider.
  • Administers and reconciles medications, treatment and immunizations prescribed by the provider.
  • Follow correct procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous waste material.
  • Comply with all applicable infection control and safety procedures
  • Participate in daily team pre-visit planning (i.e., huddles).
  • Exhibit compliance with FHC's corporate compliance policy.
  • Ensure patient has visit summary documents.
  • Perform job activities in ways that are respectful, courteous and responsive while interacting with patients, visitors and co-workers.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as delegated.
