Monday-Friday 7:30AM-5PM - 1 day off/week

We are seeking a compassionate and patient-centered Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Lakeview Internal Medicine team. This role is integral to delivering high-quality care to adult patients, supporting providers in the management of acute and chronic health conditions. Responsibilities:
  • • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories, vital signs, medication updates, and other pertinent clinical information

    • Assist providers with patient examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures

    • Accurately document patient information, orders, and communications within the electronic health record (EHR)

    • Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments in accordance with certification and organizational policies

    • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up instructions

    • Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments to support comprehensive patient care

    • Collaborate with providers and care team members to manage patient needs and ensure timely communication of results and care plans

    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection prevention and patient safety standards

Qualifications:
  • Valid and current certification in the state of Iowa for Medical Assisting
    • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required. 
    • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required: 
      • National Healthcare Association 
      • American Association of Medical Assistants 
      • National Center for Competency Testing 
      • National Certified Medical Assistant  
      • National Association of Health Professionals 
      • American Registry of Medical Assistants 
      • American Allied Health 
      • American Medical Technologists
    • Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
    • Familiarity with EPIC a plus!
  • For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
