Job Title: Medical AssistantJob Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant to join a patient-focused healthcare team in Downtown Seattle. In this role, you will provide both clinical and administrative support in a community health clinic that delivers impactful care to individuals living with HIV/AIDS and serves patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws and phlebotomy with a high degree of accuracy while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Support clinical workflows as a Medical Assistant, including rooming patients, taking vital signs, and providing basic patient care.
  • Provide front office coverage, including greeting patients, answering phones, and assisting with scheduling as needed.
  • Handle patient intake and registration, ensuring that all information is collected accurately and confidentially.
  • Verify insurance coverage and process referrals to support timely access to care and services.
  • Deliver a positive patient experience by maintaining professionalism, empathy, and efficiency in every interaction.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure seamless operations and coordinated patient care.
  • Discuss sexual health topics, including HIV and AIDS, with comfort and sensitivity while maintaining patient trust and confidentiality.
  • Follow clinic protocols and safety standards, including proper handling of specimens and adherence to infection control practices.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Active Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential in Washington State.
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience performing blood draws and phlebotomy.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proficiency in medical assisting tasks such as rooming patients, taking vitals, and providing basic clinical support.
  • Ability to perform blood collection safely and accurately.
  • Comfort discussing sexual health, including HIV/AIDS, with patients in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both clinical and administrative staff.
  • Commitment to delivering patient-centered care with empathy and professionalism.

  • Experience working in a community health or clinic environment is highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve diverse patient populations, including individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Alignment with and support for LGBTQ+ communities and inclusive care practices.
  • Interest in contributing to impactful work that supports the AIDS-positive community.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy clinic setting.
  • Detail-oriented approach to administrative processes such as registration, insurance verification, and referrals.

This position is based in a clinic environment in Downtown Seattle that provides comprehensive care to individuals living with HIV/AIDS and serves patients regardless of their ability to pay. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of clinical and administrative professionals in a setting that is supportive of LGBTQ+ communities and focused on inclusive, community-oriented care. The clinic offers full benefits, including three weeks of paid time off, as well as opportunities for pay increases through an annual cost of living adjustment and eligibility for a quarterly performance-based bonus after the introductory period. The atmosphere emphasizes professionalism, empathy, and collaboration, with established clinical workflows and safety protocols to support both staff and patients.
