Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Physician Services
Location: Hackensack, NJ 07601
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- 40 hours/week (5 x 8-hour shifts)
- No weekends, holidays, on-call, or floating required
Position Overview
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides both clinical and administrative support within a cardiovascular practice. This role involves assisting physicians, performing diagnostic procedures, managing patient flow, and maintaining accurate documentation while delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms, ensuring availability of supplies and instruments
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures
- Record vital signs and update patient medical records
- Perform diagnostic procedures including EKG, PFT, audiometry, and vision testing (Titmus)
- Conduct lab-related tasks such as phlebotomy, UDS, and BAT (post competency validation)
- Triage patient calls and respond appropriately
- Apply and monitor Holter and event monitors
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Assist with billing and collections processes as needed
- Ensure patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Adapt care delivery based on patient needs, including age, culture, and communication barriers
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–4 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in vital signs measurement, EKG, and cardiac monitoring devices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Education & Certification Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred)
- Current AHA BLS Certification
Required Certifications (one of the following):
- CMA (AAMA)
- CMA (NHA or NCCT)
- RMA (AMT or NAHP)
- NCMA or AMCA
