Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Job Description

This Medical Assistant position supports a busy gynecology practice by providing compassionate patient care, efficient clinical support, and accurate administrative assistance. The role focuses on welcoming patients, managing electronic health records, preparing examination rooms and charts, coordinating appointments, and working closely with providers and another Medical Assistant to ensure a smooth and positive patient experience in a women's health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a courteous and professional manner and escort them to examination rooms.
  • Conduct patient intake, including obtaining and documenting relevant information in the electronic health record.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record system (EPIC).
  • Stock examination rooms and triage areas with appropriate medical supplies to ensure readiness for patient care.
  • Monitor inventory levels, perform regular supply checks, and reorder medical supplies as needed.
  • Schedule patient appointments with providers and residents, ensuring appropriate time allocation and clinic flow.
  • Call patients to remind and confirm upcoming appointments and reschedule patients as needed, including those on the bump list.
  • Coordinate and schedule resident clinics when appropriate, supporting efficient use of clinic resources.
  • Prepare charts for the next day, including creating new patient charts and organizing existing charts.
  • File and pull charts as needed to support patient visits and provider access.
  • Review charts prior to visits to confirm necessary referrals and authorizations are in place.
  • Prepare charge tickets and related documentation to support accurate billing and coding processes.
  • Assist providers and another Medical Assistant with patient flow, supporting 3-5 providers and managing a high-volume schedule of approximately 16 patients in the morning and 15 in the afternoon.
  • Perform chart preparation tasks thoroughly to ensure providers have complete and accurate information before each visit.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to maintain an organized, efficient, and patient-focused environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the urogynecology practice.

Essential Skills

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential.
  • At least 1 year of experience in women's health, such as OB/GYN, reproductive medicine, fertility, urology or related specialties.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.
  • Strong medical assisting skills, including patient intake and basic clinical support.
  • Ability to document accurately and efficiently in electronic health records.
  • Computer savvy with the ability to learn and navigate clinical software and scheduling systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an outgoing and friendly demeanor when interacting with patients and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple providers and another Medical Assistant in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Organizational skills to prepare charts, manage appointments, and maintain supply inventories.
  • Attention to detail to ensure referrals, authorizations, and charge tickets are completed correctly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience specifically in urogynecology is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in OB/GYN, reproductive medicine, fertility, urology or other women's health specialties is highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high patient volume while maintaining quality and courtesy.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating appointments and confirming patient schedules.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (less than once a week) to other locations as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clinical urogynecology practice operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Medical Assistant works closely with 3-5 providers and another Medical Assistant, supporting a patient flow of approximately 16 patients in the morning and 15 in the afternoon. The practice uses EPIC as its electronic medical record system and relies on organized chart preparation and efficient scheduling to maintain smooth operations. Conservative, solid-color scrubs are required as the standard dress code. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
