Matrix Providers is hiring a Certified Medial Assistant - Coverageto join our team of talented professionals providing healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families at Jacksonville Naval Hospital - Family Medicine Department.

  • Employment Status: Full-time Coverage position.
  • Coverage dates: June 17, 2026 to September 11, 2026
  • Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly
  • Schedule: Family Medicine Clinic: Anytime between 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 Monday through Friday. 8 hour days. Schedule to be determined by department's needs and discussed with certified medical assistant.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree/Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces. The HCW may be a graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by the following programs: Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC); Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or Current registration by the American Medical Technologists and/or possess certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants OR registration by the American Medical Technologists OR the American Registry of Medical Assistant OR National Center for Competency Testing.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of full-time experience in the last 3 years as a CMA in an outpatient family practice or primary care setting.
  • Provide two (2) letters of recommendation from practicing providers, supervisors or program administrators attesting to his/her professional skills, competencies, patient rapport, etc. Reference letters must include name, title, and phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of reference must have been written within the preceding two years.
  • Computer Skill Competency: Must demonstrate computer proficiency and competency as required by the contract, including, but not limited to, internet usage, computer operations, and applicable software applications. Required skills include proficiency with Military Health System (MHS) Genesis, Adobe, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Publisher), secure messaging platforms, electronic health records (EHR) systems, MHS CarePoint, and the Physical Examination Processing Program (PEPP).

Job Summary:

  • Retrieve and manage patient medical records following established procedures.
  • Assist providers during examinations and clinical procedures as needed.
  • Support patient flow, including transporting patients between clinical areas.
  • Verify charts for provider signatures, stamps, and diagnoses before submitting to Health Records.
  • Administer medications as directed after physician verification of dosage and medication.
  • Obtain, track, and communicate lab and radiology results as instructed.
  • Answer phones and accurately document and route patient messages.
  • Operate and support use of clinical equipment (e.g., BP monitors, EKG, nebulizers, IV pumps, tympanometers).
  • Perform clinical support tasks including specimen collection, phlebotomy, IV starts, and basic lab testing (per training and clinic requirements).
  • Coordinate with clinic teams and departments to ensure continuity of patient care, including inventory support, patient education, and follow-up notifications.
