Sparrow Company is searching for a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to support a busy ambulatory care team. This role works closely with physicians and licensed providers to deliver patient care while ensuring efficient daily operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Assist with patient examinations, treatments, and discharges under the direction of a physician
Prepare treatment rooms for patient visits, including cleaning, disinfecting equipment, and restocking supplies
Escort patients from the waiting area and prepare them for examinations
Interview patients and accurately document medical information in electronic health records
Measure and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels, height, and weight
Perform routine patient testing and collect/process specimen samples (blood, urine, cultures, etc.) as applicable
Prepare and administer routine medications and injections (excluding controlled substances) as directed
Monitor and report any adverse reactions to medications
Perform wound care, including dressing changes, and remove sutures or staples as directed
Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure accurate documentation at all times
Schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and testing as needed
Initiate prior authorizations and assist patients with required processes
Provide additional support such as phone triage, front desk duties, filing, data entry, and patient registration
Assist with coverage across departments as needed to support operations
Travel locally as needed to support patient care at outreach clinic locations
Follow all policies, procedures, and safety standards
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED required
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting Program (CAAHEP or ABHES) required
Current Medical Assistant Certification required
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced clinical setting
Familiarity with accreditation standards and clinical compliance preferred
Experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred
