The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides clinical and administrative support to physicians and advanced practice providers in a cardiology clinic setting. This role is responsible for assisting with patient care, performing diagnostic testing, and ensuring efficient clinic workflow while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, patient safety, and confidentiality.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) candidates with cardiology experience—including EKG performance, cardiac device monitoring, phlebotomy, and laboratory testing are strongly preferred.
Clinical Duties:
- Perform patient intake, including vital signs, medication reconciliation, and documentation of medical history
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures
- Perform and document EKGs accurately and efficiently
- Support cardiac device monitoring, including downloading and uploading device data as directed
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens following proper protocols
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Clean and stock exam rooms; maintain infection control standards
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and assist with clinic flow coordination
- Respond to patient calls, relay messages, and provide follow-up instructions as directed
- Manage referrals, prior authorizations, and test scheduling
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
