Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor - Community

JOB SUMMARY

Sycamores provides a spectrum of equitable mental health services through various programs to multicultural populations of all acuities. Although it serves a variety of consumers the agency focuses primarily on providing care to low-income high at-risk youth.

The role of the Substance Abuse Counselor is to provide interventions that develop coping and problem-solving skills, teach social skills, and teach transference of those skills into the home, school, and community. A Substance Abuse Counselor is part of a multi-disciplinary team that implements integrated substance abuse services, provides individual and group counseling, and monitors the needs of clients with substance use disorders.

Starting Pay Range 24 - 28 per hour starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years experience as a drug and alcohol counselor working with adolescent population.
• Certification with one of State of Californias approved Alcohol & Drug agencies (CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP) required.
• If an applicant has a history of substance use, a minimum of two (2) years of continuous sobriety prior to the date of employment is required and ongoing sobriety must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
• Maintains all required licenses and certifications.

As this position requires regular and flexible travel between various client locations, driving is an essential function of this position. Candidate qualifications therefore include:

• Personal, reliable vehicle for travel to various locations.
• Valid California drivers license.
• Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency policy.
• Proof of auto insurance meeting minimum coverage requirements.
