The Athletic Trainer provides care to both healthy athletes and those who have impairments, functional limitations, or changes in physical function and health status as a result of injury, illness, or other causes. The Athletic Trainer works with occasional guidance by collaborating with the health care team using modalities, personnel, equipment, and supply resources.
The Athletic Trainer works in prevention of injury and illness, identification and evaluation of injury, referral, and teaming coordination with appropriate healthcare team members and settings as well as rehabilitation and recovery of the injured or ill athlete. The Athletic Trainer is consistently communicative with other members of the health care team, coaches, strength and conditioning staff, parents, and athletes regarding injury, illness, prevention, and management.
