Overview:
The Athletic Trainer (AT) will function under the direction of a Physician as a vital part of a thriving Orthopedic & Sports Medicine team. The AT will perform a two essential roles, as a Physician Extender and Outreach Mentor. In the Physician Extender role, the AT will assist patient flow in the clinic by facilitating; documenting and communicating patient care related activities both within and related services, along with casting and splinting as prescribed by the physician. In the Outreach Mentor role, the AT will provide clinical mentorship for the University of Florida (UF) Graduate Assistant ATs that serve the surrounding area high schools and UF Rec Sports. The AT will be responsible for traveling to area high schools to provide mentorship and on-site medical care for practices, events and athletic training clinic hours including other duties as instructed.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, or Bachelor's in a related field (Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science/Physiology, or health related profession) with internship route certification in Athletic Training.
Preferred: Master's in same or related field or 2 years' experience in an traditional on-field AT setting
Licensure/Certification
- Florida State licensure as an athletic trainer.
- Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) certification
Preferred: Certified Orthopedic Technologist (OTC certification) or a desire to earn OTC certification.
