Job Summary/Basic Function

The Certification Analyst clerical position is responsible for processing undergraduate applications using our 3 software/CRM systems of Slate, Banner, and Banner Document Management (BDM) while securely utilizing sensitive/PII information. Another key component is understanding how the systems are interconnected and how to ensure data is kept in sync. The highly detail-oriented nature of the position requires one to be knowledgeable in the procedures and policies of the university as well as applicable laws. The position will process undergraduate applications following detailed procedures to make an accurate admission decision based on established criteria. The application processing includes maintaining electronic student files, reviewing records for possible duplicates and identifying them for consolidation, determining residency, converting/calculating GPAs based on a 4.0 scale, determining the accurate application type (dual enrollment, freshman, transfer, etc.), monitoring students' admission status, making acceptance decisions, and providing answers for applicants, parents, and other MTSU staff. Therefore, excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders is essential. Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, OneNote, Teams, and Outlook will be used.

Accuracy is critical in this role, not only for correctly admitting an applicant, but also in understanding the position is serving as the first impression to the applicant and their family, which impacts their decision to attend MTSU. Those who are detail-oriented, problem solvers, and talented in solving mysteries will thrive in this high-volume clerical position. The Undergraduate Admissions Office has 14 members of which 8 are on the Certification Analyst team.

Required Education

High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.

Required Related Experience

Two (2) years progressively responsible secretarial/clerical/office experience or equivalent required.

Desirable Related Experience

Bachelors degree preferred.
